COMMISSIONED OFFICERS OF COMPANY H. BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES. ALFRED W. BJORNSTAD, Captain, Company H, was born in St. Paul, October 13, 1874. He received his education in the public schools of St. Paul and Luther College of Decorah, Iowa, and the University of Minnesota. At the time of the breaking out of hostilities with Spain, he was cashier in the City Treasurer's office in St. Paul. He enlisted in Company H as a private, April 4, 1894, serving subsequently as Corporal and Quartermaster-Sergeant. On March 4, 1896, he was elected 2d Lieutenant, but resigned on November 15, 1897. He was commissioned 1st Lieutenant of the same company, December 8, 1897, and mustered into the United States service as 1st Lieutenant of Company H, 13th Minnesota Volunteers, May 7, 1898, being promoted to Captain on May 16, 1898. In the Battle of Manila he was twice severely wounded and was subsequently made brevet Major. FRANK C. SAUTER, 1st Lieutenant, Company H, was born in Frontenac, Minn., August 27, 1873, and was educated in the public schools of St. Paul. His occupation in civil life was a hardware clerk. He enlisted in Company H, 1st Regiment, National Guard, State of Minnesota, September 7, 1892, as a private, was promoted to Corporal, January 1, 1893, and to Sergeant March 1, 1896. On December 8, 1897, he was elected and commissioned 2d Lieutenant, and mustered into the United States service as such, May 7, 1898. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, May 16, 1898.
