THE Author of the following pages has been repeatedly employed in the service of his ministerial brethren; and if the sale of his former publications may be regarded as an indication of usefulness, he has abundant reason to "thank God, and take courage." It has been his wish that the present Work might contain, within a small compass, as large an amount as possible, of important matter hence, the titles which generally accompany even "Heads of Sermons" have been omitted; superfluous divisions and subdivisions have been carefully avoided; and places where amplification may be necessary, or proper, are pointed out by the introduction of a dash

as well as by the space which usually indicates the end of a paragraph.-May the blessing of GOD render this humble effort subservient to the revival of primitive Christianity.
