145. In the case of an Instransitive Verb the neuter only of the Gerundive will be used. Thus(e) “I had to walk to the city.”
It was walkable for me to the city.
Erat ambulandum mihi ad urbem. (f) “ You and I must return home.”
It is returnable home for me and for you.
Est redeundum domum mihi et tibi. (g! “ I believe that Caius's sister, being asked who she was and
what she had to do, replied that she was your daughter,
but that she did not know what she must do." I believe the sister of Caius, having been asked who she was,
and what was do-able for herself, to have replied herself to be your daughter, but to know-not what was do-able for
herself. Credo sororem Caii, rogatam quæ esset et quid
esset faciendum sibi, respondisse se esse filiamı
tuam sed nescire quid esset faciendum sibi. (1) “What do you think she said you had expected that I
should say I had had to do ?” What do you think her to have declared you to have expected
me to be about to declare to have been do-able for myself? Quid putas illam dixisse te expectavisse me esse
dicturum fuisse faciendum mihi ?
