For with what judgment ye judge, ye 2 shall be judged and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured unto 3 you. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine 4 own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me cast out the mote out of thine eye; and lo, the beam is in 5 thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest haply they trample them under their feet, and turn and rend you.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall 8 be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knock9 eth it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf will give him a stone; 10 or if he shall ask for a fish, will give II him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good 12 things to them that ask him? All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so

do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many 14 be they that enter in thereby. For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few be they that find it.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly 16 are ravening wolves. By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles ? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bring18 eth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good

fruit is hewn down, and cast into the 20 fire. Therefore by their fruits ye shall 21 know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in 22 heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out devils, and by thy name do many mighty 23 works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from 24 me, ye that work iniquity. Every one therefore which heareth these words of

mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, which built his house 25 upon the rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not for it was founded upon the 26 rock. And every one that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the 27 sand: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and smote upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall thereof.

The Pbarisee and the Sinful Woman.

LUKE VII.

36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he entered into the Pharisee's house, and 37 sat down to meat. And behold, a woman which was in the city, a sinner; and when she knew that he was sitting at meat in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster cruse of ointment, 38 and standing behind at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and 39 anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what

manner of woman this is which touch40 eth him, that she is a sinner. And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he 41 saith, Master, say on. A certain lender had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. 42 When they had not wherewith to pay, he forgave them both. Which of them 43 therefore will love him most? Simon answered and said, He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. 44 And turning to the woman, he said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath wetted my feet with her tears, and 45 wiped them with her hair. Thou gavest

me no kiss but she, since the time I came in, hath not ceased to kiss my 46 feet. My head with oil thou didst not

anoint but she hath anointed my feet 47 with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth 48 little. And he said unto her, Thy sins 49 are forgiven. And they that sat at

meat with him began to say within 50 themselves, Who is this that even forgiveth sins? And he said unto the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

The Righteousness of the Pharisees.

And when the multitudes were gathering together unto him, he began to say, This generation is an evil generation: it seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it but the sign of 30 Jonah. For even as Jonah became a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. 31 The queen of the South shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, a greater than Jonah is here.

33 No man, when he hath lighted a lamp, putteth it in a cellar, neither under the bushel, but on the stand, that they which 34 enter in may see the light. The lamp of thy body is thine eye: when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when it is evil, thy body 35 also is full of darkness. Look therefore whether the light that is in thee be not 36 darkness. If therefore thy whole body be full of light, having no part dark, it shall be wholly full of light, as when the
