2"But he who entereth in through the DOOR is a true SHEPHERD of the sheep."

3 "TO HIM the door-keeper of the fold openeth, and the sheep hearken unto his voice: and he calleth his own sheep every one by its name, and he leadeth them forth to pasture."

4"And when he hath so put forth his own sheep from the fold, he himself walketh onward before them: and the sheep readily follow him, because they know well his voice."

5 "But a stranger they will NOT follow, but on the contrary

they will flee from him: because they do NOT so know the voice of strangers."

6 This comparison or parable of the shepherd spake Jesus to the Pharisees: but the Pharisees understood not what these things meant which he so spake to them.

7 Wherefore Jesus again said to them, "Verily, verily I say to you, that I am or represent the DOOR-keeper of the sheepfold."

8" All men whoever have hitherto come in my name as true shepherds before ME, were as thieves and robbers, but the true sheep or flock hearkened not to them."

9 "I only am the true door or keeper: through ME if any one enter in, he shall be saved: and he shall come in and shall go out, and shall find good pasture."

10"The thief cometh not but that he may steal and kill and destroy the sheep: I am come that they may have spiritual LIFE, and may have it more abundantly, even for ever.”

*

11 "I therefore am the GOOD Shepherd: the GOOD Shepherd layeth down his own LIFE for the sake of the sheep."

12" But the hireling, and he who is NOT the true Shepherd, whose own the sheep are NOT, perceiveth the wolf coming, and then he leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep abroad."

13 "Now the hireling fleeth because he is a HIRELING, and he CARETH not for the sheep."

14 "I only am the GOOD Shepherd, and I know assuredly my own sheep, and am myself so known by mine."

15 "Even as God the FATHER knoweth ME, so I know the FATHER: and moreover I shall lay down my LIFE for the sake of my sheep."

16 "And OTHER sheep I have, which are not of this same fold: THEM also I must bring together: and they shall hearken to my voice: and they shall all become ONE flock, and ONE shepherd."

17 "For this reason the heavenly Father loveth me, because I lay down my LIFE for the sheep, that by so doing I may again receive it hereafter."

18"No one taketh it FROM me, but I lay it down of my own accord for I have authority from my heavenly Father to lay it down for my sheep, and I have the same authority to receive it again hereafter. THIS positive commandment received I from my heavenly FATHER."

19¶ A schism or dissension therefore again arose among the chief Jews because of these sayings and doctrines.

20 And many of them said, "He is possessed by a devil or evil spirit, and raveth: why hearken ye to him?"

21 Others of them said, "These words and actions are

not those of one possessed by a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of blind men ?"

22 Now it happened to be the feast days of the dedication of the temple at Jerusalem, and it was winter:

23 And Jesus was walking about in the temple, that is, in the porch called Solomon'sPorch.

24 The Jews therefore came round about him, and said to him, "How long wilt thou hold our mind in suspense? If thou art the promised Christ, tell us so plainly."

25 Jesus answered them, "I have told you before who I am, and ye do not believe me: I say again the WORKS which I now do in the name of my heavenly Father, those same works bear witness of me."

26 "Nevertheless ye Jews do not believe in me: because ye are not of my own sheep, as I before told you."

27"My own sheep hearken to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, as their Shepherd:"

28" And I shall give to them ETERNAL life, and they shall NOT perish or die ETERNALLY, neither shall any one pluck them out of My hand."

29 "My heavenly Father who gave them spiritually to me, is mightier than ALL things: and no one is able to pluck them out of my FATHER'S hand." FATHER are

30 "I and my spiritually ONE.'

31 ¶ Therefore again the Jews took up stones to stone him therewith.

32 Jesus answered them, "Many good works have I at different times shewn to you as works coming from my Father on account of which of those works do ye now stone me ?"

33 The Jews answered him, saying, "For a good WORK we do not now prepare to stone thee, but for BLASPHEMY, and because that THOU being a MAN only, makest thyself as GOD."

34 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your own book of the Law and Prophets, (Psalm lxxxii. 6,) I said ye judges are GODS?" "

39 Therefore they sought again to take him by force: but he escaped out of their hand.

40 And he went away again across the river *Jordan, unto the place where John the Baptist was formerly baptizing: and he remained there.

41 And many persons went unto him there, and they said, "JOHN indeed himself wrought no MIRACLE: but ALL things which John SPAKE to us

of THIS man were TRUE." 42 And many who were there believed on him.

this Martha and her sister, and Lazarus.

6 After that, however, Jesus had thus heard that Lazarus was sick, he yet remained in the same place where he THEN was, for the space of two days. 7 THEN after that time he saith to his disciples, Let us now go forth into JUDEA again." 8 His disciples say to him, "Rabbi," that is, Teacher,' "even just Now the JEWS sought to stone thee there, and again goest thou back THITHER?"

may believe in me, that I was not THERE at that time: but let us now go forth unto him."

16 Then said Thomas, who was also called Didymus, (that is, the twin brother,) to his fellow disciples, "Let us also go thither, that we may all die together with our Lord."

17 When therefore Jesus was come thither, he found that Lazarus had already been for the space of four days in the grave.

18 (Now the village of * Be9 Jesus answered, "Arethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, there not twelve hours only of that is, about fifteen furlongs DAY-light? If any one walk in off.) the DAY-time he stumbleth not, because he seeth the LIGHT of this world:"

10" But if any one walk in the NIGHT he stumbleth, because there is then no LIGHT in him."

11 These things Jesus said, and after THAT he saith to his disciples, "Lazarus, our friend, is in a deep sleep but I will now go onwards to him, that I may awake him out of sleep." 12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he be in a deep SLEEP, he will be well again." 13 Howbeit Jesus spake absolutely of Lazarus's DEATH: his disciples, however, thought that he was speaking of his taking rest in sleep.

14 THEN therefore Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus hath died."

15" And I rejoice on YOUR ccount, and in order that ye

19 And many of the Jews had come from Jerusalem unto Martha and Mary, and unto their friends, in order that they might comfort them concerning the death of their brother.

20 Martha, therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went forth to meet him :but Mary remained sitting in the house.

21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, "Lord, if thou hadst been HERE, my brother would not now have been dead."

22" But even Now I well know, that whatsoever thou shalt ask of GOD, GOD will give to thee."

23 Jesus saith to her, " Martha, thy brother shall rise again from the dead.""

24 Martha saith to him, " I know very well that he shall rise again in the RESURRECTION of the dead, at the last day."

27 She saith to him, "Yea, Lord, I verily believe that THOU art the promised Christ, the CHOSEN Son of the everliving GOD, namely, HE who was to come into the world."

28 And having said these words, she went away and called to Mary her own sister, secretly, saying, "The MASTER, (that is, the Teacher,) is come hither, and CALLETH for thee."

29 Mary, as soon as she heard that, arose quickly and came unto him.

30 (As yet, however, Jesus was not come into the * village: but he was staying in the place where Martha first met him.)

31 The Jews therefore who were with her in the house, and were comforting her, on seeing MARY, that she quickly rose up and went out, followed her, saying, "She goeth away unto the grave, that she may lament and weep aloud THERE."

32 Then Mary, when she was come where Jesus was, on seeing him, fell down at his

feet, saying to him, Lord, if thou hadst been HERE my brother would not have died."

33 Jesus therefore, when he saw her weeping aloud, and the Jews who had come with her weeping aloud also, he groaned deeply in the spirit, and was inwardly troubled.

34 And he said, "Where have ye laid him?" They say to him, "Lord, come and see.' 35 Jesus shed tears.

36 Then said the Jews, "See how he loved him!"

37 But some of them said, "Could not this Jesus, who opened the eyes of the blind man, have caused that this Lazarus also should not now have DIED?"

38 Jesus therefore, again groaning deeply within himself, cometh unto the grave. Now it was a cave, and a stone was placed against the mouth of it. "Take ye

39 Jesus saith, away the stone." Martha, the sister of the deceased Lazarus, saith to him, saith to him, "Lord, by this time his body putrefieth: for he hath been here four days."

40 Jesus saith to her, "Said I not to thee, that if thou wouldst BELIEVE, thou shalt behold the manifestation of the glory of God?"

41 Then took they away the stone from the cave, where the deceased man was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes on high, and said, "Father, I thank thee, that thou hast now heard me.”
