Resolved, That Canon X be amended by adding a subsection to Section 6 (page 41), as follows:

"SECTION 6, ii. Every order or resolution of the Convention appropriating money from either of said Funds shall, before final action thereon, be referred to and reported upon by a Committee on Appropriations, consisting of three Laymen, the Treasurer of the Diocese ex-officio, and two members of the Standing Committee to be appointed by the Bishop, except where the Convention appropriates money for its own immediate expenses:"

respectfully report that they have examined the same and suggest the following substitute in its stead, viz.:

No appropriation shall be made from the Convention Fund or the Episcopal Fund for any other purpose than to meet the expenses of the Diocese or the Convention or the support of the Episcopate;

and offer the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Committee on Canons be discharged from further consideration of the subject.

On motion, the resolution offered by the Committee was adopted.

Mr. Edmunds moved to postpone action on this substitute until the afternoon session.

A vote being taken, the motion to postpone was not adopted.

On motion, the substitute offered by the Committee on Canons was adopted.

The Committee on Canons continued its report:

The Committee on Canons, to which was referred the following proposed alteration of the note in Section 3 of the Stand

ing Orders, offered in accordance with the requirement of Rule of Order, No. 8, by the Rev. Robert Ritchie, viz:

Resolved, That the note appended to the Standing Orders of the Convention be amended by striking out the words: "Where more than one nomination is made to the same office," and inserting instead thereof these words: "For the election of Members of the Standing Committee and Deputies to General Convention:"

respectfully report, that they have examined the same and consider its adoption inexpedient, and offer the following resolution :

Resolved, That the Committee on Canons be discharged from further consideration of the subject.

On motion, the resolution offered by the Committee was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Lewis, it was ordered to postpone action on the resolution of the Rev. Mr. Ritchie for the present.

On motion of the Rev. Mr. Ritchie, the recommendation of the Committee on Canons was agreed

to.

The Committee on Canons continued its report, as follows:

The Committee on Canons, to which was referred the following amendment by Mr. Rowland Evans, viz.:

Resolved, That Section 2 of Canon VIII be amended by substituting the word "may " for "shall" in the first line thereof, so that it shall read: "The Bishop may" instead of "the Bishop shall:"

respectfully report that they have examined the same and recommend its adoption and offer the following:

Resolved, That the Committee be discharged from further consideration of the subject.

On motion, the resolution offered by the Committee was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Henry Budd, it was

Resolved, That the Committee on Canons report by title the several proposed amendments to Canon VIII.

The amendments offered by the Board of Missions, the Rev. Dr. Upjohn, and the Rev. Mr. Ritchie, were reported by the Chairman of the Committee on Canons.

On motion of Mr. Evans, the recommendation of the Committee on Canons, relative to Paragraph 2, of the resolution of the Board of Missions, was adopted as follows:

Resolved, Second, That Section 7 of Canon VIII be amended by inserting the word "approximately" after the word "desire" in line 13.

On motion, the recommendation of the Committee on Canons, relative to the resolution of Mr. Evans, to amend Section 2, Canon VIII, was adopted as follows:

Resolved, That Section 2 of Canon VIII be amended by substituting the word "may" for "shall "in the first line thereof, so that it shall read: "The Bishop may" instead of "the Bishop shall."

The Rev. Robert Ritchie accepted the amendments offered by the Rev. Samuel Upjohn, D. D., for his resolution to amend Canon VIII.

Mr. Lucius S. Landreth offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the various amendments to Canon VIII be referred to a Committee of six, three Clergymen and three Laymen, with the Bishop ex-officio, Chairman, with instructions to report those or any other amendments to the said Canon at the next Convention.

The Rev. Wilbur F. Paddock, D. D., presented an additional Report of the Committee on Charters, as follows:

The Committee having received the full papers of the Memorial Church of the Holy Nativity, Rockledge, Penna., and finding all the requirements pertaining thereto complied with, respectfully recommend the following resolution :

Resolved, That the Charter of the Memorial Church of the Holy Nativity, Rockledge, Penna., be and is hereby approved, and that the said Church be admitted into union with the Convention.

On motion, the resolution was adopted.

The Convention assembled pursuant to resolution at 2.30 P. M.

The President gave notice that the election of one Clerical and one Lay Delegate to the Missionary Council was in order.

The Rev. Winfield S. Baer nominated the Rev. Herman L. Duhring and Mr. Moses Veale, and on motion, the Rev. Mr. Duhring and Mr. Veale were declared elected.

The Rev. John Fulton, D. D., offered an amend ment to the resolution of Mr. Landreth, as follows:

Strike out the word "six" and insert "twelve;" strike out the word "three" wherever it occurs and insert "six," so that the phrase shall read, “a committee of twelve, six Clergymen and six Laymen.”

On motion, the amendment of Dr. Fulton was adopted.

A vote being taken on Mr. Landreth's resolution, as amended, resulted on division:

Ayes.

On motion of the Rev. J. DeWolf Perry, it was ordered to proceed to the consideration of the resolu tion of the Board of Missions to amend Canon VIII.
