'Too much praise can not be accorded the projectors of this work. It lays, for a very small sum, the cream of the best writers before the reader of average means. It usually happens that very few, except professional people and scholars, care to read all that even the most famous men have written. They want his best work-the one people talk most about-and when they have read that they are satisfied."-N. Y. Commercial Advertiser.

$1.50.

As originally published in England, the Greville Memoirs contained a large amount of political discussion and speculation of only temporary value, and of not the least interest to American readers. The anecdotes and reminiscences of men and women distinguished in literary, social, and political circles, the caustic exposition of the weaknesses of royalty, as illustrated in the lives of George IV. and William IV., have excited curiosity and given these journals wide celebrity. All these passages Mr. Stoddard has here gathered up with unerring tact and discrimination. The volume is the freshest, the raciest, and the most readable yet issued in the popular Bric-a-Brac Series.

The Sixth Volume of the Bric-a-Brac Series, to be issued shortly, will be entitled
