The punishments of the past year were 1.5 per cent. of the number in the school. The government of the school is mild. Caning is resorted to in extreme cases, but as there were only nine instances last year (twothirds of the whole number of punishments) the discipline may certainly be said to be good.

HEALTH.

The average of deaths for several years has been two in a thousand. As in all large establishments for boys, ringworm is found the most troublesome disease. There were last year but seven cases of chilblains, which speaks well for the system of paving the play-ground, and thereby avoiding damp feet. The hospital arrangements of the school are all that could be desired.

(b.) Describe the ark of the covenant. Relate all you know of Jethro.

2. Write out any ten verses of our Lord's sermon on the mount.

3. Describe the triumphal entry of Christ into Jerusalem.

4. Write out and illustrate from Scripture the answer to the following:

(a.) "What is thy duty towards God?"

(b.) "What meanest thou by this word sacrament?"

GEOGRAPHY.

1. Write a full description of the country lying between Persia and the Sutlej.

2. Give the locality and a brief description of Khiva, Merv, Batoum, Kars, Tiflis, Iskenderun.

3. Describe fully the Russian Empire in Asia with regard to its boundaries, extent, physical characteristics, towns, and productions.
