I have had very little
alteration since 1870,
merely one farm slightly
reduced, and I believe in
my father's time, that
what rise there has been,
has been principally due
to altered boundaries,
drainage interest, or
possibly in one or two
cases, too much money
having been spent in
improving the farm.
Sometimes the same
rent is paid as 50 years
ago, and more, and in
others actually less, as

I cannot tell when the
rents were fixed, but the
owner was made a ward
in Chancery in 1858,
and there has been no
