WAR DEPARTMENT, WASHINGTON, January 3, 1911.

I..So much of General Orders, No. 119, War Department, June 25, 1910, page 8, as relates to "Articles of clothing to be issued without charge to enlisted men when required, not exceeding the quantities specified," as amended by paragraph I, General Orders, No. 172, War Department, September 12, 1910, is modified so as to authorize the gratuitous issue of four pairs of service chevrons to each enlisted man of the Coast Artillery Corps to cover the period of three years.

II.1. The 88th Company, Coast Artillery Corps, will be relieved from duty at Fort Mansfield, Rhode Island, in time to proceed on or about February 1, 1911, to Fort Terry, New York, for station.

The commanding general, Department of the East, will arrange the details of this movement and will promptly report hours of departure and arrival and strength of command by telegraph to The Adjutant General of the Army.

The Quartermaster's Department will furnish the necessary transportation, the Subsistence Department suitable subsistence, and the Medical Department proper medical attendance and supplies.

The travel directed is necessary in the military service.

2. Fort Mansfield, Rhode Island, is announced as a subpost of Fort H. G. Wright, New York, to take effect upon the departure for Fort Terry, New York, of the 88th Company, Coast Artillery Corps. The commanding officer, Fort H. G. Wright, will send a caretaker detachment to Fort Mansfield, under the provisions of Circular, No. 65, War Department, December 18, 1906, in time to arrive there not later than five days prior to the departure of the 88th Company, Coast Artillery Corps.

The accompanying table exhibits the names of the members of the Army Cavalry Team and the Army Infantry Team, National Team Match of 1910, who, having won three authorized medals as specified in paragraph 332, Provisional Small-Arms Firing Manual, 1909, are transferred, under the provisions of that paragraph, to the class of distinguished marksmen. Appropriate badges will be issued to them as prescribed in paragraph 334 of the manual.

By direction of the President, so much of General Orders, No. 61, War Department, March 27, 1909, as relates to additional strength, as amended by General Orders, No. 125, War Department, June 25, 1909; by General Orders, No. 223, War Department, November 8, 1909; by General Orders, No. 21, War Department, February 8, 1910; by General Orders, No. 175, War Department, September 17, 1910, and by paragraph II, General Orders, No. 196, War Department, October 24, 1910, is further amended to read as follows:

Additional strength: For 1 troop of cavalry, 2 corporals and 17 privates, when stationed at Fort Duchesne, Utah; for 4 troops of cavalry at Fort Myer, Virginia, 2 corporals and 18 privates each; for 1 squadron (4 troops) of cavalry, 4 ccrporals and 72 privates, when stationed at Fort Yellowstone, Wyoming; and for 2 companies of infantry, 1 sergeant, 1 corporal, and 1 private each, while on duty at the School of Musketry at the Presidio of Monterey, California. To provide noncommissioned officers for duty with the organized militia: For Company B, 24th Infantry, 1 sergeant, and for each company of the 1st, 2d, 3d, 4th, and 5th Regiments of Infantry, 2 sergeants excepting the companies from which a sergeant is detailed for duty with the machine-gun platoon, to which companies is given an additional strength of 1 sergeant each. To provide for machine-gun platoons: For each regiment of cavalry, 4 corporals and 20 privates; for each regiment of infantry, including the Porto Rico Regiment of Infantry, 1 sergeant, 2 corporals, and 18 privates.
