No. 66.

WAR DEPARTMENT, WASHINGTON, May 24, 1911.

I. 1. Hereafter the field allowance of transportation and the field allowance of tentage and baggage for officers, both in campaign and in permanent camp, and the normal campaign allowance of tentage and baggage for enlisted men will be that prescribed in Field Service Regulations.

2. The allowance of tentage referred to in paragraph 181, Field Service Regulations, and not prescribed in paragraph 231, Field Service Regulations, will hereafter be as follows: For permanent or maneuver camps.

3. The allowance of tentage, baggage, and transportation for sanitary units will be that prescribed in the Manual for the Medical Department.

4. When troops are on practice or other marches involving absence from garrison over night the allowance of tentage and baggage will be fixed by the commanding officer. The ammunition wagons prescribed in Field Service Regulations for cavalry and infantry regiments will not be taken with troops on practice marches or to permanent or maneuver camps, unless so directed in orders from the War Department. 5. All orders, circulars, regulations, or instructions in conflict with the provisions of this order are rescinded.

II. Paragraph 220, Army Transport Service Regulations, is amended to read as follows:

220. Smoking will be allowed on the main or mess deck, spar deck, and promenade deck, and in the smoking room, but will not be permitted on berth decks or in the saloon. [1774364, A. G. O.]

The accompanying table of the price of clothing (both old and new pattern) and equipage for the Army of the United States; the initial, subsequent, and annual allowances for clothing for each enlisted man; the articles of clothing issued without charge, including clothing specially provided for troops stationed in Alaska; and initial, semiannual, monthly, and daily money allowance for clothing for all enlisted men of the United States Army and Philippine Scouts; also the allowance of equipage and the price and allowance of tableware and kitchen utensils; also the price of lamps, desks, handcarts, lockers, mess tables, and mess tools, is published for the information and guidance of all concerned, to take effect July 1, 1911, and to remain in force until further orders.

The articles herein enumerated furnished to the organized militia shall have added to the prices herein given the cost of packing.

Clothing and equipage purchased in Manila for service in the Philippine Islands will be charged at invoice or cost price. At those posts or stations where copies of this order shall not have been received by July 1, 1911, General Orders, No. 119, War Department, June 25, 1910, as amended, will govern until the receipt of such copies.
