In the LOCKER-LAMPSON CATALOGUE a copy of this edition is described as the first genuine one. The wording of the title-page is identical with the preceding item, except in the printer's ink.

12mo, bound in full olive morocco, richly tooled gilt back with red labels, paneled sides with centre and corner ornaments, gilt edges, by FRANCIS BEDFORD. A few leaves trimmed closely at top edges, and the music at pp. 298-9 slightly touched. A few leaves neatly remargined and repaired, but A GOOD COPY. Contains two original fly-leaves at beginning, and two at end. [In morocco slip-case.]

THREE OF THE FOUR FLY-LEAVES CONTAIN NOTES IN THE HANDWRITING OF THE AUTHOR, TWO OF THEM BEARING DATE OF 1656. Included is the quotation from St. John's Gospel, "There is a lad here wh hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes.” Writing in another hand also appears on these leaves. MR. HAZLITT says of this edition that it is "OF AT LEAST EQUAL RARITY WITH THE FIRST.” AN ITEM OF THE HIGHEST ASSOCIATIONAL INTEREST.
