THIS catalogue presents for sale the first installment, and a

small portion only, of Mr. McKee's collection of Literary and Dramatic Miscellanies. There will be at least two additional sales of this part of the collection.

The sizes given are the smallest to which the prints are adapted for illustrative purposes. A 12mo print, even if on quarto or folio size paper, is described as a 12mo.

Particular attention may be called to the remarkable and nearly complete collection of playbills of Edmund Kean's first appearances in his different characters, original drawings by George Morland, Chalon, Cosway, Harding, DeWilde, George and Robert Cruikshank, Boaden, Fry and others, original manuscripts by Major André, John Howard Payne, Robert Burns, John Keats, John G. Whittier, Allan Ramsay, Adah Isaacs Menken, Charles Macklin and others, an extensive series of excessively rare portraits from the Hibernian Magazine, the original drawings and other choice illustrations for Dr. Lossing's "Memorial to Alexander Anderson," mainly from the Doctor's own collection, a fine assortment of beautiful mezzotint portraits, rare revolutionary and other prints, for the extra-illustration of Sargent's "Life and Career of Major André," drawings and engravings representing scenes in Old New York history, the earliest known New York and Philadelphia playbills, beautiful colored prints, daguerreotypes, choice and rare theatrical portraits illustrating the American and English Stage Histories, etc.

ORIGINAL WATER COLOR DRAWING of the HEADSTONE erected over the GRAVE of this early COMEDIAN, who performed at the BEEKMAN STREET THEATRE in 1761, also in PHILADELPHIA in 1759. The stone was erected by the Members of the Company, in TRINITY CHURCHYARD, N. Y. 8vo, accompanied by a woodcut reproduction. (1 piece.)

THE ALEXANDER ANDERSON MEMORIAL.

Original Paintings and Drawings, Engraved Portraits and Views, and Choice Specimens of Woodcut Engraving, gathered for the illustration of Benson J. Lossing's "A Memorial of Alexander Anderson, M.D., the First Engraver on Wood in America," all inlaid to royal 8vo size.

A large portion of this collection, including Dr. Anderson's paintings and drawings, came to Mr. McKee directly from the family of the famous engraver.
