PUBLIC LAWS. [No. 1.] AN ACT APPROPRIATING TWO MILLION DOLLARS ($2,000,000.00) MEXICAN TO BE USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR OF HIGHWAYS AND BRIDGES IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS. By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted, by the United States Philippine Commission, that: SECTION I. The sum of two million dollars ($2,000,000.00) Mexican is hereby appropriated out of any money in the Insular Treasury, not otherwise appropriated, to be expended in the immediate construction and repair of highways and bridges in the Philippine Islands. SEC. 2. The sum so appropriated shall be expended under the direction of the Military Governor in the construction and repair of such highways and bridges as in his judgment may be most conducive to the public welfare. SEC. 3. The Insular Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to pay the warrants of the Military Governor for the sum so appropriated. LEY SEC. 4. This act shall take effect on its passage. [No. 1.] PESOS DESTINANDO DOS MILLONES DE Por autorización del Presidente de los Estados Unidos, la Comisión de los Estados Unidos en Filipinas, decreta: ARTÍCULO I. 0 La cantidad de dos millones de pesos ($2,000,000.00) Mexicanos del Tesoro Insular es por la presente destinada á ser empleada en la inmediata construcción y reparación de carreteras y puentes en las Islas Filipinas. ART. 2.o La cantidad así destinada, se empleará bajo la dirección del Gobernador Militar, en la construcción y reparación de las carreteras y puentes que en su criterio juzgue más oportuno para el bienestar público. ART. 3o. El Tesoro Insular queda por la presente autorizado y ordenado para pagar los libramientos del Gobernador Militar por la cantidad así destinada. 0 ART. 4. Esta ley tendrá efecto en cuanto sea aprobada- [No. 2.] AN ACT APPROPRIATING FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) MEXICAN FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING A SURVEY TO ASCERTAIN THE MOST ADVANTAGEOUS ROUTE FOR A RAILROAD INTO THE MOUNTAINS OF BENGUET, ISLAND OF LUZON, AND THE PROBABLE COST THEREOF. By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted, by the United States Philippine Commission, that: SECTION I. The sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) Mexican, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Insular Treasury, not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of making a survey to ascertain the most advantageous route for a railroad into the mountains of Benguet, Island of Luzon, and the probable cost thereof. SEC. 2. The disbursing officer of the Commission is authorized and directed to draw his warrant for the amount appropriated by this bill, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the Insular Treasurer is directed to pay the same. This act shall take effect on its passage. SEC. 3. [No. 2.] LEY DESTINANDO CINCO MIL PESOS ($5,000.00) MEXICANOS AL OBJETO DE HACER UN ESTUDIO PARA DETERMINAR LA VÍA MÁS VENTAJOSA PARA LA CONSTRUCCIÓN DE UN FERROCARRIL Á LAS MONTAÑAS DE BENGUET, ISLA DE LUZÓN, Y COSTO PROBABLE DEL MISMO. Por autorización del Presidente de los Estados Unidos, la Comisión de los Estados Unidos en Filipinas, decreta: ARTÍCULO 1. Por la presente se destina de los fondos del Tesoro Insular, la cantidad de cinco mil pesos ($5,000.00) Mexicanos ó la que sea necesaria de los mismos para hacer un estudio, determinando la vía más ventajosa para la construcción de un ferrocarril á las montañas de Benguet, Isla de Luzón, y costo probable del mismo. ART. 2. El oficial pagador de la Comisión está autorizado y ordenado para extender su libramiento por el importe destinado por esta ley ó lo que del mismo pueda ser necesario y el Tesorero Insular tiene órden de pagar el mismo. ART. 3. Esta ley tendrá efecto en cuanto sea aprobada. [No. 3.] AN ACT APPROPRIATING TWO THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN DOLLARS AND NINETY-SIX CENTS ($2,617.96) IN THE MONEY OF THE UNITED STATES FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE SALARY AND EXPENSES OF FRED W. ATKINSON FOR THE PERIOD FROM MAY 5 TO SEPTEMBER 1, 1900. By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted, by the United States Philippine Commission, that: SECTION I. The sum of two thousand six hundred and seventeen dollars and ninety-six cents ($2,617.96) in the money of the United States is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Insular Treasury, not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of paying Fred W. Atkinson, Superintendent of Public Instruction in the Philippine Islands, for services rendered and expenses incurred by him under direction of the Commission preliminary to assuming formally the duties of his office in the Islands, for the period from May 5 to September 1, 1900. SEC. 2. The disbursing officer of the Commission is authorized and directed to draw his warrant for this amount in favor of Fred W. Atkinson, and the Insular Treasurer is directed to pay the same. [No. 3.] LEY DESTINANDO DOS MIL SEISCIENTOS DIEZ Y SIETE PESOS Y NOVENTA Y SEIS CÉNTIMOS ($2,617.96) EN DINERO DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS, AL OBJETO DE PAGAR LOS SUELDOS Y GASTOS DE FRED W. ATKINSON, DESDE EL 5 DE MAYO AL 1.o DE SETIEMBRE DE 1900. Por autorización del Presidente de los Estados Unidos, la Comisión de los Estados Unidos en Filipinas, decreta: ARTÍCULO 1. La cantidad de dos mil seiscientos diez y siete pesos y noventa y seis céntimos ($2,617.96) en dinero de los Estados Unidos es por la presente destinada de los fondos del Tesoro Insular, con el objeto de pagar á Fred W. Atkinson, Superintendente de Instrucción Pública en las Islas Filipinas, por servicios prestados y gastos incurridos por él bajo la dirección de la Comisión antes de asumir formalmente los deberes de su cargo en las Islas, desde el 5 de Mayo al 1.o de Setiembre de 1900. ART. 2. El oficial pagador de la Comisión queda autorizado y ordenado para extender su libramiento por esta suma á favor de Fred W. Atkinson y el Tesorero Insular tiene órden para pagar la misma. ART. 3.o Esta ley tendrá efecto en cuanto sea aprobada. [No. 4.] AN ACT APPROPRIATING ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) IN THE MONEY OF THE UNITED STATES FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE SALARY OF THE PROPERTY CLERK IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION FOR THE PERIOD OF ONE MONTH FROM SEPTEMBER 8 TO OCTOBER 8, 1900. By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted, by the United States Philippine Commission, that: SECTION I. The sum of one hundred dollars ($100.00) in the money of the United States is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Insular Treasury, not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of paying the salary of the property clerk in the department of education, for the period of one month from September 8 to October 8, 1900. SEC. 2. The Military Governor is authorized to draw his warrant in favor of the duly appointed property clerk for the amount designated in section first of this act, and the Insular Treasurer is directed to pay the same. SEC. 3. This act shall take effect on its passage. Enacted, September 12, 1900. [No. 4.] LEY DESTINANDO CIEN PESOS ($100.00) EN DINERO DE LOS ESTADOS UNIDOS AL OBJETO DE PAGAR EL SUELDO DEL EMPLEADO DE LA PROPIEDAD EN EL DEPARTAMENTO DE INSTRUCCIÓN DESDE EL 8 DE SEPTIEMBRE AL 8 DE OCTUBRE DE 1900. Por autorización del Presidente de los Estados Unidos, la Comisión de los Estados Unidos en Filipinas decreta: ARTÍCULO 1.o La cantidad de cien pesos ($100.00) en dinero de los Estados Unidos, es por la presente destinada de los fondos del Tesoro Insular, al objeto de pagar el sueldo del empleado de la propiedad en el departamento de instrucción, desde el 8 de Septiembre al 8 de Octubre de 1900. |
