About the author (1997)

Gaylord A. Jentz was born in Beloit, Wisconsin, on August 7, 1931, and died suddenly in Austin, Texas, on November 23, 2009. He grew up in Waupun, Wisconsin, and earned his B.A., M.B.A., and J.D. degrees at the University of Wisconsin. Professor Jentz was as an author of leading textbooks. He authored or co-authored approximately 60 editions of the most popular business law textbooks in the country. He began his teaching career at the University of Oklahoma in 1958 and he moved to the University of Texas (UT) in 1965, where he taught until he retired in 1998. His significant contributions to the UT business school earned him admission to its Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed upon few faculty members. He also received the Civitatis Award for service from UT.
