THE following pages, while adverting in the first place to the great doctrine of the mediation of Christ, as the only foundation of hope towards God, are more especially designed to call attention to the practices obligatory on the professors of that doctrine, derivable from the writings of the New Testament. Influenced by a conviction, that many and most important departures from primitive Christianity, on both these points, have taken place, a few individuals (the writers hereof) have been compelled to withdraw from existing communions; and would fain indulge the hope, that many among such may, through the instrumentality of these pages, be led to "inquire for the old paths"-"to hear Christ's sayings, and do them."
