sanctified by Thy Holy Spirit; and so made altogether meet for Thy heavenly kingdom.

For all Thy goodness to us, O Lord, we desire humbly and heartily to thank Thee. It is of Thy mercies that we are not consumed, and because Thy compassions fail not. Every returning day brings to us fresh tokens of Thy care and bounty. Oh, that our hearts may be deeply thankful, and that we may praise Thee with joyful lips.

Bless all our dear friends and relatives. Teach them the happiness of Thy service; may they find by experience that Thy ways are ways of pleasantness, and all Thy paths are peace. We beseech Thee, O God, to pour down Thy rich blessing on our Country and our Queen. May we be a nation fearing Thee, and working righteousness.

Prosper all our efforts made for the conversion of the heathen. Grant unto Thy missionary servants strength to

labour, and success in labouring; and gather from all lands, both from among Jews and Gentiles, a people who shall love, serve, and obey Thee. Hear, O Lord, and answer these our prayers, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: for Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all everAmen.

Auesday bening.

THOU great and glorious God, at the close of another day we come with the voice of prayer and praise into Thy presence. Thou hast kept us from evil and danger through the day that is past. Be near us, and watch over us, through the darkness of night. May Thine angels encamp around us, and Thy Holy Spirit Himself keep and sanctify our souls.

We implore Thy forgiveness, O Lord,

The things of

this world have too much occupied our

thoughts. Forgive us, most merciful Father, for Christ's sake. Pardon our iniquities, for they are great.

Create in us, we beseech Thee, a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within us. Give us a tender and enlightened conscience. O guard and guide, sustain and bless us. May we live so near to Thee, that we may not fear to depart when our change shall come. And when we awake from the sleep of death, may we rise to glory, honour, and immortality.

Grant, O God, we pray Thee, that we may find joy and peace in believing. Scatter all clouds of doubt, and darkness, and ignorance. Cause Thy face to shine upon us. In the multitude of the thoughts which we have in our hearts, may Thy comfort refresh our souls. If we should this night lie wakeful upon our beds, may our minds be lifted up to Thee. May thoughts of Thee and of heavenly things thrust out thoughts of vanity and sin. The darkness is no darkness, O Lord,

with Thee, but the night is as clear as the day. Make us ever to feel that all things are naked and open unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do; and may the thought of Thine allseeing eye restrain us in the hour of temptation.

When we read Thy holy Word, grant us, O Lord, a teachable spirit, a wise and understanding heart. Speak to us through its sacred pages. Make it effectual for our edification, instruction, and comfort. May we receive in humble faith its holy precepts and precious promises: and may our daily walk and conversation show that we are indeed taught of Thee.

We ask Thy blessing upon all whom we love, and all our friends and neighbours. Bless them abundantly, and supply all their need out of the riches of Thy grace.

Look in pity upon those who are living in heathen lands; and hasten the time, O Lord, when all shall know Thee from the least to the greatest. Prosper the labours
