Forgive, O Heavenly Father, in Thy great mercy, all that has been imperfect and sinful in our worship. We confess that we have been weak in faith and cold in devotion; that our thoughts have wandered in prayer, and whilst we listened to Thy Word. Pardon the iniquity of our holy things. Grant, O Lord, that we may prize more highly the means of grace; and do Thou make them more profitable to our souls.

Lord, let Thy love be abundantly shed abroad in our hearts by Thy Holy Spirit. Take away all pride, and ignorance, and unbelief. Make us more humble, more holy, more heavenly minded. May we daily grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Saviour Christ. May we seek more and more to follow the blessed steps of His most holy life.

We thank Thee for any comfort we have experienced this day whilst waiting upon Thee [or, in drawing near to Thee at Thy holy table] May every earthly

Sabbath, as it passes away, leave us holier, and better prepared for an eternal Sabbath in heaven.

And if there be among us any one whom we love, who is living for this world only, and who is still far from Thee, O Thou good Shepherd, who didst lay down Thy life for the Sheep, bring that wanderer into Thy fold. Soften that hard heart, and quicken it by Thy grace. Fill it with deep anxiety for salvation, and then pour in the balm of heavenly comfort.

Water with the dew of Thy blessing, O Lord, the seed sown this day by the ministers of Thy gospel. Lead every penitent to Christ; comfort every mourner; build up Thy people in their most holy faith.

And now, O Heavenly Father, grant that peaceful sleep may close this holy day; and whilst we lay our bodies down to rest beneath Thy care, let our souls enjoy that quiet confidence and

happy trust, which is the portion of Thy children.

Hear in mercy these our supplications, and accept our praises, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Saviour.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all evermore. Amen.

Monday Morning.

GOD, who hast spared our lives, and brought us to the beginning of another day, we lift up our hearts to Thee. We thank Thee for rest during the past night, for life preserved, and strength renewed, and for the many tokens of Thy loving-kindness which surround us.

We thank Thee also for our religious privileges; especially for Thy Sabbath, with its precious opportunities of instruction. We We pray that the truths which we heard on Thy holy day, may influence us throughout the week. May we thus become more wise, more earnest, more spiritually-minded.

And now, O Lord, prepare us for the

duties and trials which lie before us. Whatever we have to do, may we do it willingly and heartily, as unto Thee, and not as unto men. Show us our besetting sins, and grant that we may watch and fight against them. Give us grace to take up, each one of us, our peculiar cross whatever it may be, to exercise constant self-denial, and in all things to follow our Master, Christ.

If we should be tempted this day to impatience and anger, enable us to remember Him, who, when He was reviled reviled not again, when He suffered threatened not. Give us more of the mind which was in Christ Jesus. Make us more like Him in lowliness and meekness. Make us kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another; ready to bear each other's burdens, and so to fulfil the law of Christ.

Let not the world with its cares and vanities fill our hearts this day, and so make us forget the worth of our souls,
