derstandings: give unto us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ. May we know Him as our allsufficient Saviour. May we enter more and more into the riches of His redeeming love.

Lord, we confess with sorrow that we have been but as barren fig-trees in Thy vineyard. Thou hast indeed done much for us; and we have great cause for shame, that we have made such poor returns for all the care and culture which Thou hast bestowed upon us. Thou hast looked for fruit, and hast too often found none. O spare us yet a little longer: water us with the dew of Thy heavenly blessing, and make us fruitful in every good work. Grant that, being set free from sin, and made servants to God, we may have our fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

We have been spared to begin another day. We thank Thee for all Thy goodness, and Thy care. Thou spreadest our

table with plenty; Thou givest us life, and breath, and all things. O Lord, our souls and all that is within us would bless and praise Thy holy name.

And now we pray Thee to strengthen us for the work which lies before us. Enable us this day to keep eternity in view. Help us to live as those who feel that they must render up their account to Thee. Teach us to set our affections on things above; and do Thou raise our hearts and hopes heavenward.

O most merciful Saviour, our compassionate High Priest, pity all our infirmities; heal our souls' sicknesses; give us the joy of Thy salvation, and a hope full of immortality. Strengthen us to live and labour for Thee, to fight under Thy banner, and to tread in Thy footsteps here below. Give us grace always to act as Thy true servants, and to do everything to Thy glory. May each one of us be able to say, from our very hearts, 'To me to live is Christ.' And at length take us

to rest with Thee above, for Thine own name and mercy's sake; unto whom with the Father and the Holy Ghost be all honour and glory, now and evermore. Amen.

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: for Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be with us all now and evermore. Amen.

hursday Evening.

LORD our God, we come before

Thee this evening, trusting only in the name of Christ our Saviour. Though Thou art high and holy, yet dost Thou humble Thyself to behold the dwellers upon earth, and dost hearken to the cry of Thy needy creatures, for Thy dear Son's sake. Hear us then, O our Father; pity, pardon, and bless us.

We thank Thee for keeping us this day from all the dangers which surround us. We thank Thee for health and strength, and every earthly comfort and blessing. But we praise Thee yet more for the measure of grace which Thou hast given to us, for Thy holy Word, and for the way of salvation which it points out. Teach

us to devote all that we have, and all that we are, to Thy service. May our talents be consecrated to Thy glory. May we walk as children of the light; and may our light so shine before men, that they may see our good works, and glorify our Father which is in heaven.

Most merciful God, pardon, we pray Thee, the sins of another day. We are guilty, but Thou art good. Forgive our pride and selfishness, our forgetfulness of Thee and of heavenly things. Our hope is only in Thy mercy. We look to the atoning blood of Christ alone for acceptance with Thee. We beseech Thee to heal, cleanse, and sanctify us, for our Redeemer's sake.

We pray Thee, O God, to bless us as a family. It has been Thy will that we should live together; Thou hast bound us closely one to another. In Thy great mercy grant that all who dwell under this roof may belong to the family of Christ. Put holy desires and affections
