Look favourably upon our native land. Save and defend us, we beseech Thee, from the hands of our enemies, and give peace in our time, O Lord. May we never forget that in all our conflicts there is none that fighteth for us, but only Thou, O God. Oh, that it may please Thee to give to all nations unity, peace, and concord, and to make us a godly and a Christian people.

As members of the same household may

we live together in peace. Keep us from all dissensions, and may Thy love prevail among us. Be with all our friends, and those who have at any time shown us kindness. Bless all our enemies, if we have any, and turn their hearts. Visit with the comforts of Thy grace all amongst us who are anyways afflicted or distressed in mind, body, or estate. Lead them to the Saviour, and give them a happy issue out of all their afflictions.

And now, heavenly Father, we ask Thee to be our Guardian and Keeper

during this day, and to preserve us in our going out and in our coming in. All this we beg in the name and through the merits of Jesus Christ, our most blessed Lord and Saviour. Amen.

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil for Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be with us all now and for ever. Amen

Friday Evening.

GRACIOUS SAVIOUR, who hast

promised that where two or three are gathered together in Thy name Thou wilt be in the midst of them, fulfil this promise to us at the present time. We come before Thee with all our wants, feeling that Thou art able to supply them, and to give us more than we can ask or think.

Thou knowest that our necessities are great; but Thy power and goodness are greater. We are tied and bound with the chain of our sins; but do Thou in mercy loose us. We are ignorant; do Thou teach our hearts by the sending to us the light of Thy Holy Spirit. We are as sheep that have gone astray; O thou Good

Shepherd, bring us back into Thy fold. Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins, and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of Thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness.

By Thine agony and bloody sweat, by Thy cross and passion, by Thy precious death and burial, by Thy glorious resurrection and ascension, and by the coming of the Holy Ghost, good Lord, deliver us. Pitifully behold the sorrows of our hearts, and mercifully forgive all our sins.

O heavenly Father, we beseech Thee favourably to behold this Thy family. May each of us in our respective stations truly and godly serve Thee. May we do unto others as we would they should do unto us. May we be true and just in all our dealings one with another. May we bear no malice nor hatred in our hearts. May we be honest and upright in our daily conduct. May we keep our tongues from evil speaking, lying, and slandering.

May we, each one of us, do our duty in that state of life into which it has pleased Thee to call us.

Make Thy Word precious to our souls. May it be sweet to our taste, yea, sweeter than honey to our mouth. May we love its precepts, understand its doctrines, and rest upon its promises. Give us grace, that, being not like children carried away with every wind of vain doctrine, we may be established in the truth, and be doers of Thy Word, and not hearers only, deceiving our ownselves. Whenever we read the Holy Scriptures, be Thou Thyself our Teacher. Sow the seed of eternal life in our hearts, and enable us to bring forth fruit, to the glory of Thy name, and the comfort of our souls.

We now desire to place ourselves for the night under Thy fatherly care. Be with us in our lying down, and in our rising up. Defend us with Thy heavenly grace, that we may continue Thine for ever, and daily increase in Thy Holy Spirit
