VII.-REFERENCES TO INDEFINITE APPROPRIATIONS.

Hereafter all moneys received as deposits to secure the purchase price on the sale of

any products or the use of any land or resources of the forest reserves shall be covered into the Treasury in the manner provided by section 5 of the act of Congress approved February 1, 1905, entitled "An act providing for the transfer of forest reserves from the Department of the Interior to the Department of Agriculture," and the fund created by that act shall be available, as the Secretary of Agriculture may direct, to make refunds to depositors of money heretofore or hereafter deposited by them in excess of amounts actually due to the United States; and hereafter all moneys received as contributions toward cooperative work in forest investigations shall be covered into the Treasury and shall constitute a special fund, which is appropriated and made available until expended, as the Secretary of Agriculture may direct, for the payment of the expenses of said investigations by the Forest Service and for refunds to the contributors of amounts heretofore or hereafter paid in by them in excess of their share of the cost of said investigations. For maintenance of the agricultural experiment stations in Alaska, Hawaii, and Porto

Rico, in addition to the specific appropriation therefor for 1907, the money received from sale of products obtained on the land belonging to said stations is appropriated. (Agricultural act, p. 28.)

For repayment of soldiers' deposits, so much as may be necessary for the fiscal year

1907 is appropriated. (Army act, p. 39.)

For salaries of ambassadors, ministers, consuls, and other officers of the United States

for the periods actually and necessarily occupied in receiving instructions and in making transits to and from their posts, and while waiting recognition and authority to act, in pursuance of the provisions of section 1740 of the Revised Statutes, so much as may be necessary for the fiscal year 1907 is appropriated. For expenses of Commercial Bureau of American Republics, in addition to the specific

appropriation therefor, any money received from sale of the Bureau's publications and from rents or other sources is appropriated. (Diplomatic and consular act, p. 59.)

To acquire, by purchase or condemnation, the land necessary for the extension of

Monroe street with a width of 60 feet from Harrison street northward to the Anacostia River and of the south approach to the new Anacostia Bridge, with a width of 60 feet, to connect with said extension of Monroe street by a curve passing over the tracks of the Alexandria branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, so much as may be necessary to pay the expense of said condemnation proceedings and to pay any damages or excess of damages over benefits that may be allowed to owners of land taken is appropriated. For continuing the extension of the high-service system of water distribution in the

District of Columbia, so much as may be available in the water fund during the fiscal year 1907, after providing for the expenditures for the water department in the District of Columbia appropriation act for that year, is appropriated. (District of Columbia act, p. 97.)
