NEW YORK STATE GOVERNMENT-EXECUTIVE-Continued. STATE BOARD OF PHARMACY. The State Board of Pharmacy, organized Jan. Education Department follows: 7, 1901, chap. 67, laws of 1900, was a reorganization of all Boards of Pharmacy at the time and is composed of 15 members divided into three branches, namely: Eastern, Middle and Western, with 5 members to each branch, 4 of whom are examiners, the 5th being Secretary. Each member is entitled to a sum not exceeding $150 per annum, the secretaries receiving in addition a regular salary. The general office of the board is in the Humane Society Bldg.. cor. EDUCATION DEPARTMENT. Chap. 40, Laws of 1904, provided that the University of the State of New York shall be governed and its corporate powers exercised by 11 Regents, and provided for their election; and provided further for a Department of Education and the election of a Commissioner of Education. He receives an annual salary of $7.500 and $1,500 in lieu of traveling expenses. The powers and duties of the office of Superintend-ent of Public Instruction and of Secretary of the Board of Regents are exercised and performed by the Commissioner of Education, who creates divisions and fixes and determines the salaries of all assistants and employes in the Education Department, subject to the approval of the Board of

Regents.

For purposes of administration the common classification of the work of the Education Department is known as elementary, secondary and higher. The First Assistant Commissioner has oversight of all universities. colleges, professional and technical schools and of the execution of the laws concerning the professions. The Second Assistant Commissioner has oversight of high schools and academies and the training of teachers therefor. The Third Assistant Commissioner has oversight of all elementary schools and of the training of teachers therefor.

MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS.

Admission to the medical licensing examinations requires a fee of $25 and sworn evidence that the candidate is more than 21 years of age, of good moral character, and has the general education required preliminary to receiving the M. D. degree in this State; also that he has studied medicine not less than 4 full school years of 9 months each, including four satisfactory courses of 6 months each, in 4 different years, in a medical school registered as maintaining at the time a satisfactory standard. Candidates may be admitted in conditionally to the examinations anatomy, physiology and hygiene and chemistry, provided they are 19 years of age and are certified as having studied medicine not less than two full satisfactory courses of at least six months each. in a medical school registered as maintaining a satisfactory standard, provided they meet all other requirements.

IV. The papers filed by each applicant must be attached together, and there must be indorsed upon them the name of the applicant. The papers must be entitled: "In the matter of the application of for admission to the Bar." Each applicant must state the beginning and end of each term spent in a law school, as well as the beginning and the end of each vacation that he has had.

V. An applicant who has been admitted as an attorney in highest court of original jurisdiction of another State, and who has remained therein as a practicing attorney one year, may prove the latter fact by his own affidavit, and present a certificate from a judge of the court in which he was admitted or from a county judge in said State certifying to that fact. The signature of the judge must be certified to by clerk of the court or by county clerk under the seal of the court. FOREST, FISH AND GAME COMMISSIONN. Y. City Office, 1 Madison av., Mhtn. The Governor (by and with advice and consent of Senate) appoints a Forest, Fish and Game Commissioner to hold office for 4 years. The Commissioner has charge of the State fish-hatching establishments and shellfish industry, and it is under his supervision that lakes and streams of the State are restocked with fish. He has care, custody, control and superintendence of forest lands, owned by the State. of many islands of Lake George and of St. Lawrence Reservation at Thousand Islands; also of public interests of State with regard to forests and tree planting, and especialy with regard to forest fires. He also is charged with enforcement of forest, fish and game laws. The Commission reports to the Legislature annually, with such recommendations for further legislative or official action as he deems proper. He appoints Protectors to enforce the law for Protection of fish, game and forests. The Commissioner receives a salary of $5.000 and expenses; Deputy Commissioner, $2,500 and actual expenses The Commissioner appoints an Asst. Each applicant for examination must file with Sec. of Board at least 15 days before holding examination preliminary proofs required by the "Rules for the admission of attorneys and counselors-at-law," as amended and adopted by judges of Court of Appeals, Dec. 2, 1895, to take effect Jan. 1, 1896, from which it must appear the preliminary conditions prescribed have been fulfilled, and also proof of residence of applicant for six months prior to examination, giving place, with street and number, which must be made by his own affidavit. Each applicant must be a citizen of State, of full age; may be examined in any Dept., but the fact of his having passed the examination will be certified to Appellate Div. of Judicial Dept, in which he has resided for six months prior to his examination. He must entitle his papers in Dept, in which he intends to apply for exam-burgh; Emery Kinsman, Natural Bridge; Chas ination.

Note-An applicant must appear for examination in the Dept. in which he entitles his papers, unless permission of the Board otherwise be granted at least fifteen days before the day appointed for holding the examination.

III. In applying provisions of Rules IV and V of Rules of the Court of Appeals, the Board will require proof that the college or university of which an applicant claims to be a graduate main
