the national field of medical journalism than any other local journal. I have heard many nice things said of Daniel for years from men (and women, too), both in and out of the profession, from all over Texas, but one of the sweetest, noblest tributes came from his own city of Austin, from an eminent fellow of his own guild, a rival as it were.

Among the many good things said, the one thing that caught me was his reference to Daniel's unselfish, slavish devotion to his household of half orphaned children, left motherless almost in their babyhood, he filling place of father and mother, loyally fighting in the face of ill health, business reverses, not for a brief spell but for a good part of a lifetime, till he presented them to the world completely educated, "charactered," equipped for their place as worthy citizens of the state.

Yes, all honor to the grand old Daniel! I hope every doctor in America will buy "Daniel's Recollections of a Rebel Surgeon" for himself and an extra copy for a friend.

Another highly important thing would be an amendment enacted to the medical law of our State, which would premit the Medical Examining Boards to revoke the license of certain physicians when they are found guilty of prac
