The New York State Whist Ass'n was formed in 1897 and played its first match at the Put-in-Bay Congress, winning the trophy from the Atlantic Ass'n and the New England Ass'n. The seventh annual meeting was held in Rochester, N. Y., Feb. 13-14, 1903. Albany Trophy won by J. B. Howe, J. H. Hopkins, E. S. Plumb and W. E. Witherspoon of Genesee Whist Club of Rochester. CROSS COUNTRY RUNNING.

The senior and junior championships of the A. A. U. were held at Travers Island on Nov. 3, under the auspices of the New York A. C. John J. Joyce of the Pastime A. C. won the individual championship, covering the six miles in 32:23 4-5. The New York A. C. team defeated the Pastime A. C. in the senior championship by a score of 29 to 32. The junior championship was won by the Mohawk A. C. with a total of 29 points.

Aug. 1-Arthur F. Duffey ran 100 yards in 9 4-5 sec. at Ibrox Park, Glasgow, Scotland. This equals the English and beats the Scotch record for the distance.

Aug. 27-Len Hurst, professional long distance runner, covered 25 miles in 2h. 33m. 42s. at Preston Park Brighton, London, beating the world's record from 20 up to 25 miles. Annual international match between Scotland and Ireland at Edinburgh, Scotland, won by Scotland with seven events to four for Ireland.

Intercollegiate.

MOTT HAVEN CHAMPIONSHIPS. The 28th annual intercollegiate championship games were held at Berkeley Oval, Mhtn., May 29 and 30. Yale gained permanent possession of championship trophy by winning the meet for the sixth time, with a total of 41% points. Harvard was a close second with 41 points and Cornell third with 16.

Beck of Yale made a new intercollegiate record for the 16-pound shot, with a put of 46 feet, and Schutt of Cornell established a new record for the two mile run, covering the distance in 9 min. 40 sec. Gardner of Syracuse equaled the record of 11 ft. 7 in. in the vault. The records follow:

At the 10th annual spring championships of the Long Island Interscholastic Athletic League, held at Garden City, May 23, five records were broken, one equaled and a new one established. Boys' High School won the point trophy with a total of 44% points.
