15 And let them be for Lights in the Firmament of the Heaven, to give Light upon the Earth and it was fo.

16 And God made two great Lights; the greater Light to rule the Day, and the leffer Light to rule the Night he made the Stars alfo.

17 And GOD fet them in the Firmament of the Heaven, to give Light upon the Earth.

26 And hath made of one Blood, all Nations of Men, tor to dwell on all the Face of the Earth, and hath determined the Times before appointed, and the Bounds of their Habitation:

27 That they should SEEK the LORD, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us :

CHA P. II.

The first Sabbath. 4 The Manner of the Creation. 8 The Planting of the Garden of Eden, 10 and the River thereof. 17 The Tree of Knowledge only forbidden. 19 The naming of the Creatures. 21 The making of Woman, and Inftitution of Marriage.

Ver. 1 and all the Hoft of them.
HUS the Heavens and the Earth were finished,

2 And on the feventh Day GOD ended his Work which he had made and he rested on the feventh Day from all his Work which he had made.

3 And God bleffed the SEVENTH Day, and SANCTIFIED it because that in it he had RESTED from all his Work, which GOD created and made.

4 These are the Generations of the HEAVENS, and of the EARTH, when they were created; in the Day that the LORD GOD made the Earth and the Heavens.

5 And every Plant of the Field, before it was in the Earth, and every Herb of the Field, before it grew for the LORD GOD had not caufed it to rain upon the Earth, and there was not a Man to till the Ground.

6 But there went up a Mist from the Earth, and watered the whole Face of the Ground.

7 And the LORD GOD formed Man of the Duft of the Ground, and breathed into his Noftrils the Breath of Life; and Man became a LIVING SOUL.

8 And the LORD GOD planted a Garden Eaft-ward. in Eden; and there he put the Man whom he had formed.

Job xxxiii. 4 The Spirit of GoD hath made me, and the Breath of the ALMIGHTY hath given me Life.

Pfal. cxxxix. 13 For thou haft poffeffed my Reins: thou haft covered me in my Mother's Womb.

14 I will praife thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy Works, and that my Soul knoweth right well.

15 My Subftance was not hid from thee, when I was made in fecret; and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the Earth.

16 Thine Eyes did fee my Subftance yet being unperfect, and in ten, which in Continuance were fathy Book all my Members were writfhioned, when as yet there was none of them.

9 And out of the Ground made the LORD God to grow every Tree that is pleasant to the Sight, and good for Food: the Tree of Life alfo in the midst of the Garden, and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil,

And the LORD GOD 15 took the Man, and put him into the Garden of Eden, to drefs it and to keep it.

Ezek. xxviii. 13 Thou haft been in Eden the Garden of GOD.

Is Thou waft perfect in thy Ways from the Day that thou waft created, till Iniquity was found in thee.

16 And the LORD commanded the Man, faying, Of every Tree of the Garden thou mayft freely eat :

17 But of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and EVIL, thou shalt not eat of it for in the Day that thou eatest thereof, thou fhalt SURELY Die.

18 And the LORD GOD faid, It is not good that the Man fhould be alone: I will make him an help meet for him.

19 And out of the Ground the LORD GOD formed every Beaft of the Field, and every Fowl of the Air, and brought them unto Adam to fee what he would call them and whatfoever Adam called every living Creature, that was the Name thereof.

20 And Adam gave Names to all the Cattle, and to the Fowls of the Air, and to every Beaft of the Field: but for Adam there was not found an Help meet for him.

21 And the LORD GOD caufed a deep Sleep to fall upon Adam, and he flept: and he took one of his Ribs, and clofed up the Flesh in ftead thereof.

22

And the Rib, which the LORDGOD had taken from Man, made he a Woman, and brought her to the Man.

23 And Adam faid, This is now Bone of my Bones, and Flesh of my Flefh fhe fhall be called Woman, becaufe fhe was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore fhall a Man leave his Father and his Mother, and shall cleave unto his Wife and they fhall be one
