PREFACE.

In this manual, there are twelve Offices of family devotion. Eight of them are compiled from the Liturgy and other services of the Protestant Episcopal Church; each Collect or Prayer being generally entire ; and concise adaptations or insertions being made in some of them. The other four are the two Forms, to be used in Families, set forth in the Prayer-book, and the same somewhat abridged. abridged. Three Occasional Prayers, and an Occasional Thanksgiving, are added.

A chapter, or part of a chapter, from the New Testament, or the Old, should be read before these Offices are used.
