COMBINATION OF THE WEEKLY LAW BULLE

TIN AND OHIO LAW JOURNAL.

Our subscribers will see from this number that we have consolidated the WEEKLY LAW BULLETIN with the OHIO LAW JOURNAL. We concluded to do so, not as an advantage to us pecuniarily, for there were more than enough subscribers keeping and paying for both papers to cover the extra expense of publishing the two papers separately; but because we believe the consolidation to be in the interest of the Bar of Ohio, and because we found the Bar generally desired it. The consolidation will give to the Bar of Ohio one local, legal publication, which will contain everything that can be obtained, of special local interest to the profession of the state, and we assure our subscribers that everything that can be done to make the combination valuable to the Bar, will be done.

There are, however, some difficulties to overcome in this consolidation. In the first place, the volumes of the two papers do not run out at the same time. Vol. 12 of the BULLETIN run out December 31, 1884. Vol. 6 of the JOURNAL, however, would run out February 7, 1885. We had of necessity to choose either of the two dates for carrying out the consolidation. We chose to commence with the new year, which seems the preferable time, and the semiannual volumes of the combination will begin with the first Mondays of January and July of each year. Vol. 6 of the LAW Journal will therefore be closed now, and the subscribers will receive the last number of that volume this week, containing the Table of Cases and Index of the same, and will in future receive the combination of the two papers in the place of the JOURNAL.

Another difficulty was offered by the difference of the form and style of the two publications. We are afraid that some subscribers of the LAW JOURNAL, having become accustomed to the style of that paper, will feel somewhat dissatisfied with the change. The reasons, however, why we thought the form of the LAW BULLETIN preferable are the following: In the first place, the style of the WEEKLY LAW BULLETIN, and that adopted for the combination, is that followed by most all the weekly law publications published, in this country as well as in England.

But the main reason is, that the form in which we publish the combination offers much more space to a less amount of printing and binding. Large type, leaded composition, large spaces and small
