UNCOUPLING LEVER

Τ

HE Safety Appliance Law requires that cars and locomotives shall be equipped with couplers "coupling automatically by impact and which can be uncoupled without the necessity of the men going between the ends of the cars."

Does a coupler operating so that it is necessary for you to run with the moving car and hold up the uncoupling lever by hand while making a cut subject you to any risk of injury? We would like the opinion of the practical men who do the work on this point. Won't you write us your views?

The Kelso Coupler has a REAL "lock-set" self contained in the coupler, not dependent for its security of action on the adjustment of other parts. Once lifted to its operative position by the raising of the uncoupling lever it stays there until the cars part. It will not jar down when the car runs over rough track, frogs or switches. You don't have to run with the car and hold up the lever of THIS coupler. Is there any other feature in the M. C. B. coupler more important or that you use as frequently as this? If so, what is it? Think it over.
