WHE EDITOR of the MISCELLANEA GENEALOGICA ET HERALDICA has
again to gratefully acknowledge the kind assistance he has received during the two years the present Volume has been running.
He looks back with pleasure over the thirty-two years the publication has pursued on the lines it laid down as to Family History, Arms, and Bookplates, and now hails with pleasure the ardent search for the latter which began within the last ten years. He feels that the MISCELLANEA GENEALOGICA ET HERALDICA led the way for the collection of Bookplates at a time when the subject was only in the minds of a few.
He has also to thank several Contributors for their interesting extracts from Monumental Inscriptions abroad, and likewise to express his indebtedness to Gery MILNER-GIBSON-CULLUM, Esq., F.S.A., for the elaborate Pedigree of the Middleton Family, along with the embellishments of nearly eighty autographs-a Pedigree that will almost stand alone for diligent research and extent.
